Waterproofing in Portland: what to know
Long, soggy Portland winters push groundwater into the older basements of Sellwood and St. Johns, so sump pumps, interior drain systems and foundation sealing top the request list. Crawl space encapsulation helps tame musty air and moisture under Craftsman floors. Schedule exterior drainage or French drain work in the dry summer months, and expect that excavation or tying into storm lines often needs a permit from the city.
